Flags
I'd love to do a book about flags at some point but in the meantime here's a little something to make you think about the process of nation building...
(Disclaimer: red is not ALWAYS used to represent blood but it is frequently, sometimes directly like in the Austrian flag, sometime tacitly, for example whenever it’s used to represent courage, sacrifice or revolution. I would also include any flag using red to represent Communism or Socialism as the origin of the red flag (according to the song anyway) is said to be the “blood of martyrs dead”
