Heart of Darkness

Cover

“There was no joy in the brilliance of sunshine. The long stretches of the waterway ran on, deserted, into the gloom of overshadowed distances.”

“‘He is a very remarkable person.’”

“the dark-faced and pensive forest”

This is my entry into this years House of Illustration/Folio Society competition. The book this year was Joseph Conrad's Heart Of Darkness, a short book about a man's journey down the Congo, the savagery he encounters and ultimately his obsession with the legendary Kurtz. It's not a jolly book.
